The Impacts Humans have had on the Earth
SC.7.E.6.6
"Identify the impact humans have had on the Earth, such as deforestation, urbanization, desertification, erosion, air and water quality, and changing the flow of water."
Standard Summary: This standard is about the effects people have had on the Earth. Each of the things we have done have had a different effect on our planet.
Vocabulary
Deforestation: The removal of trees
urbanization: Becoming more like the city, the population grows
Desertification: Fertile land becoming desert, usually result of drought or deforestation
Erosion: The process of breaking away rock or sand by wind, water, or other natural agents
Air & Water quality: A measure of how well the air & water is.
Changing the flow of water: The act of humans changing the flow of water (rivers, streams ect)

Changing the flow of water: The act of humans changing the flow of water (rivers, streams ect)
Examples
A construction company wants to tear down a forest in hopes of constructing a new neighborhood. in order to create this neighborhood, deforestation would have to occur to a large majority of the tree's. Deforestation happens more then people realize. Most construction involves some deforestation.
In order for a town to become a city, urbanization will most likely occur.
After a drought or deforestation, the land may start to look like the desert, This is called desertification. The land that was once fertile, is no loner fertile and becomes desert.
Erosion can take place on cliff sides. The wind that keeps blowing eventually wears down the cliff so much that a large or small piece of it breaks off.

Explanation
Humans have had many impacts on the Earth. Some of them are good and some of them are bad. In standard SC.7.E.6.6, it discusses some.
